- Control Resonant achieved over one million sales soon after its launch, despite mixed critical reviews.
Remedy, the developer of Control Resonant, has announced a significant quarterly financial report, revealing a 226% increase in revenue to €39.6 million in Q3, attributed to the game’s release in September. CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon characterized this achievement as “a defining milestone for the company.” Additionally, Remedy reported an operating profit of €0.6 million for the quarter, a notable improvement from a loss of €16.4 million in the same period last year.
The report highlighted that nearly half of Control Resonant’s players came from the United States, followed by players from Chinese-speaking regions and the UK. Importantly, almost half of these players were new to the franchise, which the company identified as a primary goal for this title. Remedy stated, “Reaching new players was a key goal for this game, and these early results indicate a growing audience for the franchise and for Remedy.”
Moreover, sales for the previous installment, Control (2019), experienced a boost due to the release of Control Resonant, outperforming its sales from the past two quarters and the same quarter last year. Remedy’s focus, according to Gaudechon, now lies in expanding the reach of Control Resonant as they develop other projects, including the remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2.
Despite mixed critical reception, with some praising the artistic direction while others criticized its narrative depth compared to its predecessor, Control Resonant swiftly surpassed one million sales shortly after its launch.
