Peacock’s Shocking Price Hike: What It Means for Your Streaming Plans!

Date:

Peacock Announces Price Increase for Streaming Plans Starting August 18

Peacock will raise prices for its streaming service, effective August 18 for new and returning subscribers. The cheapest ad-supported “Select” plan will increase from $7.99 to $8.99 per month. The ad-supported “Premium” plan will rise from $10.99 to $12.99, while the ad-free “Premium Plus” plan will see an increase from $16.99 to $19.99 per month. Current subscribers will experience the new rates on their next billing date after September 17.

According to a company statement, “These price changes allow Peacock to continue to create the best experience for its viewers, remain competitive in the marketplace, and deliver unique content across all genres.” Annual subscribers and users with active promotional offers will maintain their current plans until they expire.

In recent developments, Peacock has introduced new features to its platform, including an AI-powered “Bravoverse” vertical-video feed showcasing clips from popular franchises such as “The Real Housewives” and “Vanderpump Rules.” Additionally, Peacock plans to implement a feature for streaming live games in a vertical format optimized for mobile devices.

The service also recently launched two new gaming titles, “Law & Order: Clue Hunter” and “Public Eye,” developed by AI gaming startup Wolf Games. Furthermore, last month NBCUniversal announced a partnership to offer Peacock’s Premium plan to YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. starting in early 2027.

Since its launch in 2020, Peacock has reported significant growth, reaching 48 million subscribers, fueled by popular events like the NBA playoffs, FIFA World Cup, and “Love Island.” This growth contributed to the service reporting its first-ever profitable quarter last month. The latest price increase marks Peacock’s fourth hike in four years, following a $3 increase effective July 2025.
