Arsenal Targets Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah as Defensive Option

Arsenal has reportedly added Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah to their shortlist as they seek to bolster their defensive line during the summer transfer window, according to sources close to the situation. Although no direct negotiations have commenced between the two clubs, Arsenal has been exploring potential avenues for a deal through intermediaries.

Leverkusen is understood to be hesitant to part with Quansah, having acquired the England international from Liverpool last summer for £30 million ($40.6 million). It remains uncertain how much Arsenal is willing to offer, and a gap in valuation could complicate negotiations. This scenario mirrors the Gunners’ ongoing efforts to sign Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, whom Villa values at approximately £60 million.

Previously, Arsenal indicated a willingness to bid around half that amount for Konsa. Sources have informed that Arsenal plans to intensify their pursuit of Konsa, but whether a compromise can be achieved is still unclear. The club’s interest in Quansah suggests they are considering alternative options.

Both Quansah and Konsa were members of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad that secured a third-place finish in this summer’s World Cup. Quansah is noted for his versatility, capable of playing both right-back and centre-back, having made 44 appearances in his debut season with Leverkusen.
