Lee Reeves Hospitalized After Knockout Loss to Gary Cully in Dublin
Irish boxer Lee Reeves was taken to the hospital following a knockout in the 10th round of his fight against Gary Cully on Saturday. The bout took place at the 3Arena in Dublin, as part of the undercard for the Pierce O’Leary vs. Mark Chamberlain event.
The 31-year-old Reeves was knocked down twice during the final round and failed to rise after the second fall. Emergency medical personnel transported him off the ring on a stretcher before rushing him to the hospital for further evaluation.
Queensberry promoter Frank Warren expressed concern for Reeves, stating, “All our thoughts and prayers are with Lee Reeves and his family at this time as he remains in hospital.” He added that the team is in constant contact with Reeves’ team regarding his condition and hopes for positive news.
Cully, 30, also extended his well-wishes after the match, saying, “My prayers and thoughts are with Lee Reeves, hopefully he’s okay.” He acknowledged Reeves’ performance as a significant effort, stating, “He came in there as a big underdog… but he really showed that he can operate at a higher level. Huge credit to him.”
