Ferran Torres Set to Join PSG from Barcelona for €50 Million

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain after the two clubs reached a deal in principle worth approximately €50 million ($58 million), as confirmed by a source. The transfer is expected to be finalized in the coming days, with Torres scheduled to fly to Paris to undergo a medical examination before officially signing with the French champions.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Barcelona had rejected an initial offer of €40 million from PSG, although talks continued. Barcelona had been open to retaining Torres, even considering a contract extension; however, with just one year remaining on his current deal and following his request to leave, the club agreed to facilitate the transfer.

The 26-year-old arrives in Paris after a successful World Cup campaign, where he scored the winning goal in the final against Argentina. Torres will reunite with coach Luis Enrique, having previously played under him during his time as the Spanish national team manager. His arrival is expected to bolster one of Europe’s most formidable attacking lineups.

Traditionally a winger, Torres has transitioned into a central role in recent seasons and is anticipated to take on the No. 9 position at PSG, following the departure of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan.

During the previous season with Barcelona, Torres netted 21 goals. His exit leaves the Catalan club without a designated striker, following Robert Lewandowski’s transfer to the Chicago Fire earlier this summer. Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez has emerged as a top target for Barcelona, although securing his transfer may prove challenging.
