Mohamed Salah Debuts for Trabzonspor in 1-1 Draw Against Kasımpaşa
Mohamed Salah made his long-awaited debut for Trabzonspor as a second-half substitute in their Turkish Süper Lig opener, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Kasımpaşa. The Egypt national team captain entered the match in the 58th minute but could not turn the tide for his new club.
Salah’s transfer to Trabzonspor was finalized last week, culminating in a warm welcome from thousands of fans at Trabzon Airport. He signed a two-year contract with the club, reportedly worth €17 million ($19.6 million) per season, according to ESPN sources.
The match saw Noah Saviolo score for Kasımpaşa in the first half, but Adrian Benedyczak equalized with a penalty just 10 minutes into the second half. Salah had a chance to put Trabzonspor ahead in the 70th minute but missed, sending his shot over the crossbar after controlling the ball inside the area.
This move to Trabzonspor concludes months of speculation regarding Salah’s future, particularly after a prior deal to transfer to Besiktas fell through. In March, he had announced his departure from Liverpool upon the conclusion of last season, despite extending his contract with the club in April 2025.
During his eight years at Liverpool, Salah emerged as the club’s third-highest goal scorer, netting 257 goals in 442 appearances and securing two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
