Dina Thorslund Claims Unanimous Decision Victory to Become Bantamweight Champion

Dina Thorslund captured the bantamweight championship with a commanding unanimous decision victory over Cherneka Johnson in the main event of Saturday’s MVP women’s card in Orlando. Thorslund (25-0, 9 KOs), a former unified bantamweight champion, demonstrated her dominance by executing relentless three- and four-punch combinations throughout the fight, resulting in all three judges scoring the bout 100-90 in her favor.

Thorslund consistently landed a minimum of 13 punches in each round, while Johnson (19-3, 8 KOs) managed to reach double digits in only three rounds. This loss marks Johnson’s first since a unanimous decision defeat to Ellie Scotney in June 2023. With this win, Thorslund ascends to the No. 1 ranking at 118 pounds, while Johnson falls to No. 2.

Thibeault Emerges Victorious in Co-Main Event

In the co-main event, Tamm Thibeault claimed the WBO and IBF middleweight titles by defeating Desley Robinson in just her fifth professional fight. Thibeault (5-0, 3 KOs) was in control from the outset and threw 46 punches in the opening round, landing 20. She achieved a 52% power punch success rate (87 of 167) and overall landed 41% of her total punches (117 of 287), earning another unanimous decision with judges scoring it 100-90. This victory propels Thibeault to the top of the middleweight rankings, while Robinson (12-4, 4 KOs) drops to No. 2.

Galle Upsets Metcalf

Amanda Galle secured a surprising unanimous decision victory against Shurretta Metcalf in an eight-round junior bantamweight bout. Galle (13-1-1, 1 KO), who previously lost to Cherneka Johnson in an undisputed bantamweight title fight, moved down in weight to face Metcalf, who also stepped down from bantamweight. Galle outpunched Metcalf, landing 33 jabs to Metcalf’s 19 and 93 power punches to 45, resulting in unanimous decision scores of 78-74, 80-72, and 80-72. Galle has now entered the 115-pound rankings at No. 5.

Rankings are updated every Tuesday based on recent fights, head-to-head matchups, and the quality of opponents. Fighters inactive for 18 months or more will be removed from the rankings until they resume fighting.
