Mujeeb Ur Rahman Joins Desert Vipers, Big Changes in ILT20 Squads Ahead of Auction
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who played for Dubai Capitals last season, will now represent the defending champions Desert Vipers in the upcoming season of the ILT20. The Vipers have also retained key players Shimron Hetmyer, Andries Gous, and Dan Lawrence as part of their squad development strategy.
Conversely, Noor Ahmad, who was with the Vipers last season, will be joining the Dubai Capitals. In addition to Ahmad, the Capitals have signed Marcus Stoinis and retained Rovman Powell and Mustafizur Rahman, strengthening their roster ahead of the auction.
MI Emirates have also made notable moves, retaining three crucial players: Nicholas Pooran, Rashid Khan, and Romario Shepherd. They have signed Sherfane Rutherford, adding depth to their lineup.
The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) have retained Sunil Narine and Jason Holder, while newcomer Finn Allen will join the team along with Matthew Tromp from the USA. The Gulf Giants have retained Azmatullah Omarzai and Blessing Muzarabani, completing their four overseas signings with the additions of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen.
The Sharjah Warriorz are distinct in retaining only one player, Sikandar Raza, while bringing in new talents Adam Milne, James Vince, and Waqar Salamkheil. Additionally, the team has appointed Adrian Birrell as their new coach, who previously guided Sunrisers Eastern Cape to three titles in the SA20.
The upcoming auction in Dubai on October 1 will allow teams to finalize their squads by adding players from the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and additional foreign signings. Each team will consist of a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 23 players. Post-auction, teams will also have the opportunity to make one Wildcard signing.
