Nottinghamshire Defeats Yorkshire, Advances to Semi-Finals Against Leicestershire

Nottinghamshire secured a thrilling victory, scoring 277 for 7, to defeat Yorkshire, who managed 273 for 9. The win sets up a semi-final clash against Leicestershire at Grace Road on Sunday, with a potential home final at Trent Bridge in September on the line.

Will Bennison played a pivotal role for Yorkshire, contributing his career-best score of 91. However, Yorkshire’s total might have been higher; they stumbled early with two quick wickets as Dillon Pennington dismissed Adam Lyth and Will Luxton, leaving them at 43 for 2. Bennison and James Wharton consolidated, sharing a 116-run partnership before Wharton fell for 44.

After reaching his half-century off 69 balls, Bennison fell soon after, triggering a Nottinghamshire comeback. They took four wickets for 47 runs as Yorkshire was reduced to 241 for 7 in the 46th over. Pennington finished with impressive figures of 4 for 49, while Ben Coad stood out with 5 for 52 in Yorkshire’s innings.

For Nottinghamshire, South African wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne played a crucial knock, scoring 105 off 123 balls. He formed a solid partnership with Tom Haynes, whose 116 off 99 balls led the team to victory despite losing wickets. Verreynne’s century was his first of the campaign, achieved off 113 balls, and helped keep Nottinghamshire’s hopes alive after a shaky start.
