Tyson Fury Suggests Heavyweight Fight with Anthony Joshua May Not Happen
Tyson Fury has expressed skepticism regarding the possibility of his long-anticipated heavyweight matchup with Anthony Joshua taking place. The fight, which has been over ten years in the making, appeared to be on track following Fury’s victory over Mariusz Wach and Joshua’s knockout of Kristian Prenga last month.
Although a tentative date in November has reportedly been set, the location of the bout has become a contentious issue. Both fighters have signed separate contracts with Saudi Arabian-owned organizers Sela, complicating the arrangements. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has maintained that their agreement includes a stipulation for the fight to occur in the UK, while Sela favors New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden.
In a recent Instagram post, Fury conveyed his frustration, stating, “It doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. All because Eddie Hearn and that want more money.” He further criticized the negotiations, suggesting that the desire for the fight to be staged in England was primarily a tactic to secure higher profits for the American venue.
Fury expressed his willingness to accommodate various venues, declaring, “I’ve bent over backwards to make this fight happen. First of all it was in England, then it was in Ireland, then it was in America, I said I’ll go anywhere.” He emphasized his readiness to fight, adding, “I’m match fit, I’m ready to rock and roll, baby. If you [Joshua] don’t want to get it on I’ll fight somebody else in November.”
