Crystal Palace Signs 19-Year-Old Wing-Back Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake

Crystal Palace has secured the signing of 19-year-old wing-back Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake, the club announced on Tuesday. Gozo’s contract will span five years.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Gozo stated, “I’m really looking forward to playing in the Premier League with Crystal Palace. It’s the dream of any footballer. I’m excited by the people and the project they have going on here. I’ve seen a lot of it, and that’s what excites me about this club as well: the success that they’ve had.”

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that the transfer fee is expected to be around $15 million (£11.1 million). Club chairman Steve Parish commented on the new addition, saying, “It is great to welcome such an exciting young talent to Crystal Palace Football Club. I am looking forward to seeing what Zavier can achieve with us during his time in South London.”

A member of the U.S. youth national team, Gozo is regarded as one of the standout academy products from Major League Soccer (MLS). In 16 appearances this season for Real Salt Lake, he has notched six goals and five assists, and he was also part of the MLS All-Star Game in July.

At Crystal Palace, Gozo will work under new manager Pierre Sage, who took over the role in June following the departure of Oliver Glasner. Gozo joins fellow American Chris Richards on the squad, marking him as the second U.S. player on this season’s roster.
