Ayumu Murase Joins the Cast of Original Anime ‘Inherit the Winds’ Ahead of January 2027 Premiere
The upcoming original television anime project Inherit the Winds (Kaze wo Tsugumono) has officially announced that voice actor Ayumu Murase will star as Tōdō Heisuke, the assistant vice commander of the Mibu Roshigumi. Set against the backdrop of the Bakumatsu era in Kyoto, the series is slated to premiere in January 2027 across CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliated networks on the “Agaru Anime” programming block, following an early theatrical preview screening in 2026.
A Journey Through Kyoto’s Bakumatsu Era
The historical drama follows an amnesiac soldier who is rescued by the legendary Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji, who bestows upon him the name “Tachikawa Jinsuke” as he starts a new life among the Mibu soldiers. The original story is crafted by Yutaka Narui and Aniplex, with scriptwriting by Narui and cooperation from Azuki Mashiba. Tomohiro Kawamura is directing the project at Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc., featuring character designs by Fumi Ebina and music by Shigeru Kishida. Additionally, a four-panel manga adaptation illustrated by Matsuri Muramatsu is set to launch on Star Seas Company’s Twi4 X account in 2026.
