Julie Andrews Confirms She Will Not Return for The Princess Diaries 3
Legendary actress Julie Andrews has announced that she will not reprise her role as Clarisse Renaldi in the upcoming film The Princess Diaries 3, as Anne Hathaway steps into her role as now-Queen Mia Thermopolis.
Andrews Reflects on the Film’s Direction
In an interview with Today.com published on August 10, Andrews stated, “I’m not going to be in it,” adding that the film’s narrative has shifted. “I think the story is slightly different, and I’m not quite sure how they’re dealing with that. But it’s too late for me to do it. I think the story has to continue in Princess Mia.”
Declining Film Offers and Retirement Reflections
Furthermore, Andrews expressed her disinterest in acting, indicating that she feels retired. In a separate interview with InStyle, she mentioned receiving inquiries last year from the film’s creative team regarding her participation, saying it was “very hard to say ‘no,’ but I did.”
Andrews Emphasizes the Story’s Focus on Mia
Andrews concluded her remarks by emphasizing the narrative’s evolution, stating, “It’s her story. It’s not really mine,” reinforcing her stance on stepping away from the role and the spotlight.
