⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Update 1.6.0 adds a new Hard difficulty mode and rebalances gameplay elements.
  • Players can now see their position on the map, and enemy hearing sharpens with difficulty.
  • Patch also includes improvements for colorblind accessibility and additional hints.

Silent Hill: Townfall has released patch 1.6.0, introducing a new Hard difficulty mode while rebalancing all existing difficulty settings to enhance the gameplay experience. The update became available on PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store earlier this week, as detailed in Konami’s official patch notes. According to Konami, these changes are intended to provide “a smoother difficulty curve for players to choose from.”

The gameplay rebalance includes resource adjustments in various game sections and increased enemy hearing sensitivity in tandem with the difficulty level. Moreover, players can now see their position on the map regardless of chosen difficulty, while the reduction in the main enemy’s attack severity is now exclusive to Story Mode.

A new warning screen is displayed for players who select Nightmare difficulty for their first playthrough, and the difficulty selection menu has been updated to clarify the differences among options. The update, as noted by the Silent Hill Official Twitter account, encourages players to confirm they are on the latest version, v1.6.155963 for PC or v1.6.156035 for PS5.

Additional features of this update include improved valve status lighting tailored for colorblind players, new hints and tutorials, and refined wording for puzzle hints and item descriptions. The options menu has been reorganized for better clarity, and the controls remapping feature now explicitly accommodates both keyboard/mouse and controllers.

For PC users, a new DLSS Ray Reconstruction option is included, alongside general performance enhancements and bug fixes. Silent Hill: Townfall was launched on PS5 and PC on September 24, and has received praise for its unique blend of gameplay elements, as seen in Matt’s review on Eurogamer, which awarded the game four out of five stars.
