50 Cent Nearly Chose “Boo Boo” as His Stage Name
Curtis Jackson, famously known as 50 Cent, revealed in an August 11 appearance on The Tonight Show that he initially considered the nickname “Boo Boo” as his stage alias. He humorously remarked, “It wouldn’t work well,” reflecting on the lighthearted nature of that choice.
During the interview, the 51-year-old rapper also discussed the common queries he receives regarding the pronunciation of his name. On Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2014, he stated, “The question I get asked the most is Fifty or Fiddy?” He clarified, “If you say fifty, call me Fifty.”
Jackson further illustrated how he can identify when fans attempt to imitate his Queens accent to be “cool.” He said, “If you see hundred dollar bills, call me Fifty,” noting that if the cash in question is Benjamins, “Fiddy is just fine.”
