Fury vs. Joshua Heavyweight Showdown Faces Venue Agreement Issues

Frank Warren, promoter for Tyson Fury, has indicated that the highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Fury and Anthony Joshua could face postponement if an agreement on the venue is not reached. Despite the uncertainty, Warren remains optimistic that the ‘Battle of Britain’ will still take place as scheduled in November.

Initially, Wembley Stadium was considered the leading venue for the clash. However, complications regarding the start time have since arisen, shifting the focus toward Madison Square Garden in New York. Saudi boxing official Turki Alalshikh has suggested that the U.S. venue would better cater to a broader global audience.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, stated that they would not have signed the contract if the fight were to occur in America, emphasizing the need for “discussion around that.” In response, Warren mentioned that the two fighters must reach a consensus. “Tyson Fury has his agreement, which states something different. The fight will happen,” Warren explained. “I’ve heard what Eddie has said. They’re either going to agree to it or not. If they don’t agree to it then the fight won’t happen.”

Warren highlighted that Fury signed for the fight back in January, and it was initially slated for September. Plans for a warm-up fight that month were derailed due to a tragic accident involving Joshua, which resulted in the loss of two close friends. Nonetheless, Warren believes the fight will happen in November, with the venue to be announced in due course.
