St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Overcome St Lucia Kings by Five Wickets

In a tightly contested match at Gros Islet, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots defeated St Lucia Kings by five wickets in their CPL 2026 encounter. After winning the toss, Kings captain Roston Chase opted to bat first, but later reflected that they “left about 30 to 35 runs out there.” The Kings posted a total of 155 for 8, largely due to contributions from Jewel Andrew and Kamil Pooran, but fell short of a more competitive score thanks to effective bowling from Jason Holder and Saurabh Netravalkar, who took six wickets between them for just 52 runs.

The Patriots chased down the modest target, finishing at 156 for 5 with 14 balls remaining. Andre Fletcher anchored the innings, scoring an unbeaten 48 off 41 balls, and was awarded Player of the Match for his performance. Kyle Mayers also played a crucial role, contributing 32 off 16 balls before falling during the powerplay.

Despite losing their openers Andries Gous and Ackeem Auguste, who were both dismissed by Netravalkar, the Kings managed to reach 57 during the powerplay. Pooran and Andrew formed a third-wicket partnership worth 82 runs off 51 balls, but the pace of their scoring slowed, particularly after Pooran was run out for 54 off 30 balls. Andrew managed to score 58 off 42 balls before succumbing in the 16th over to Holder.

Ultimately, the Kings struggled towards the end, adding just 22 runs in the final five overs. The Patriots, needing a manageable total, saw Fletcher guide them without panic. His innings included only three fours and a six, a reflection of the low asking rate. Support came from Kevin Wickham, who scored 19 off 20, and later from Dasun Shanaka and Holder, helping secure the victory once Wanindu Hasaranga hit a six off Matthew Forde.

This win marked the Patriots’ first in the tournament after an opening loss, while the Kings find themselves with one win and one defeat after two games.
