Williams Sisters to Team Up in Doubles at Cincinnati Open Ahead of US Open

In a significant return to the court, Serena and Venus Williams are set to compete in doubles at the Cincinnati Open, which begins next week. The tournament organizers confirmed on Monday that the Williams sisters received a wild-card entry into the doubles field.

This marks their first time teaming up in a hard-court tournament since they last played a doubles match together at the 2022 US Open. The Williams sisters had previously received a wild-card entry to play doubles at Wimbledon, but an injury to Serena prevented them from participating.

Throughout their careers, the duo has achieved remarkable success in doubles play, securing 14 major titles and three Olympic gold medals. At age 46, Venus Williams is also scheduled to compete in mixed doubles at the US Open later this month, partnering with Alexander Bublik.

Serena, now 44, continues her comeback after her recent loss at Wimbledon in her first singles match in nearly four years, making their participation at Cincinnati a notable milestone in her return to competitive tennis.
