Rebel Wolves Releases Hotfix for The Blood of Dawnwalker Amid Positive Reception
- The Blood of Dawnwalker has received a positive reception despite technical issues.
- A hotfix (1.04) has been deployed to resolve stability and controller-related problems.
- Rebel Wolves is recruiting for a lead writer to develop a sequel.
Players generally view The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark fantasy role-playing game reminiscent of The Witcher series, positively, although some technical issues have been reported. Problems include performance and controller issues as well as bugs, which have spurred developer Rebel Wolves to release a hotfix (1.04) addressing these matters.
In addition to the hotfix, Rebel Wolves is actively seeking a lead writer to assist in creating a sequel to The Blood of Dawnwalker. This initiative signals the studio’s intention to explore further adventures featuring the vampire protagonist Coen across different historical eras, a topic discussed prior to the game’s launch by co-founder and game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.
The hotfix aims to resolve critical issues across all platforms—PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. It focuses on game stability, fixes for quest-blocking and game-saving problems, and adjustments to controller performance. A specific fix was made for frame-rate drops experienced when connecting a controller, attributed to outdated GameInput software.
Following a weekend hotfix that added DualSense controller support on Steam and GOG, Rebel Wolves has also promised ongoing improvements, stating, “We will continue to make improvements so that you can enjoy The Blood of Dawnwalker more comfortably. Thank you for your support and patience,” in their Steam post associated with the earlier 1.02 hotfix.
Since its release last week, The Blood of Dawnwalker has surpassed 1 million sales, benefiting from a strong alignment with a Witcher 3 audience. In a review, it was described as a familiar dark fantasy adventure infused with unique and bold ideas, resulting in significant commercial success.
