During a Nintendo Direct event celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, Columbia Pictures and Nintendo unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. The film features Bo Bragason in the role of Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.

Shigeru Miyamoto, during the presentation, hinted that upon viewing the film, audiences would understand the absence of a subtitle. He also posed a question regarding the potential role of the Triforce in the story. The movie is set to incorporate various elements from the series’ extensive 40-year history, although it will not be based on any single game title. More updates regarding the film, including additional trailers, are anticipated in the future.

Filming for the live-action adaptation has recently concluded in New Zealand, starting in October 2025. Wes Ball, known for his work on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Maze Runner series, serves as director. The film is expected to have a theatrical release before transitioning to Netflix at an unspecified date following its premiere.

For those eager to see Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, he has taken on a significant role as Daeron Targaryen in Season 3 of House of the Dragon, showcasing his acting abilities amid the show’s dramatic developments. Interestingly, Ainsworth was only eight years old when the acclaimed game Breath of the Wild was released. He will be 18 at the film’s theatrical debut on April 30, 2027, marking ten years since the launch of the Nintendo Switch game.
