Prominent Nintendo leaker Malo932 has shared new insights regarding the console maker’s potential plans, indicating the much-anticipated return of Nintendogs alongside an all-new Super Smash Bros. game, which will not be a reimagined version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Malo932 previously disclosed that Nintendo was preparing two consecutive Nintendo Direct presentations before the company officially announced them. This leaker was also among the first to mention that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, a new Star Fox title, and a Switch Sports game would launch this year.
Another Super Smash Bros. installment is not unexpected, considering that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, released in 2018, is the highest-selling game in the franchise’s history and a hallmark title for the Nintendo Switch. Series director Masahiro Sakurai has remained relatively quiet since concluding his work on Kirby Air Riders last year.
According to Malo932, the upcoming Super Smash Bros. project will not be an upgraded version of Ultimate, suggesting that fans should not anticipate a simplistic Switch 2 Edition of the popular title.
In a now-deleted YouTube comment, which was quickly circulated by fans, the leaker hinted at the revival of another “cozy weird Nintendo series”, likely referring to Nintendogs. The last entry in this franchise, Nintendogs and Cats, was released in 2011 for the Nintendo 3DS.
The original Nintendogs sold over 20 million copies, and there is significant demand for its return, especially as Nintendo has been reviving other unique handheld franchises, such as Rhythm Paradise Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
Furthermore, Malo932 mentioned that a rumored DLC for Mario Kart World will feature Fox McCloud and is expected to release next year. Other anticipated projects include a new 2D Metroid game, a fresh Wario Land title, and a Star Fox “adventure”, all rumored to be released in 2027.
