Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s Platinum Trophy Will Be Easier to Achieve
- Director Naoki Hamaguchi states that the Platinum trophy for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be easier to obtain.
- Only 2.6% of players earned the Platinum trophy in Rebirth due to its design, which emphasized content mastery.
- The game is set to release on April 8, 2027, across multiple platforms.
Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, announced that the sequel will feature an easier-to-obtain Platinum trophy compared to its predecessor, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This admission comes in light of the low percentage of players—approximately 2.6%—who managed to unlock Rebirth’s Platinum trophy, which Hamaguchi attributes to the game’s design focusing on encouraging players to engage with and perfect the extensive content.
In an interview with Anime News Network, Hamaguchi expressed his reflections on the feedback from players. He stated, “For Rebirth’s platinum trophy – well, for Rebirth in general – there’s so much to do. There’s so much content. We wanted to make people go through all this content and perfect it. It’s kind of by design that that would make it difficult.” He refrained from labeling the challenge as a “mistake in judgement” but did acknowledge having “regrets” upon seeing player reactions. Hamaguchi also noted that the development team underestimated the desire among players to earn the Platinum trophy, a sentiment echoed by battle director Teruki Endo.
Hamaguchi emphasized that one of the lessons learned from Rebirth is the importance of making combat enjoyable, not just challenging. He confirmed that, in contrast to the previous installment, “for Revelation, the platinum trophy will be easier to get. In terms of how difficult it will be, we’re expecting twenty percent of players or maybe even more than that to be able to obtain it.”
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, and will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. The game is expected to maintain a balance of open-world exploration while addressing concerns raised about its ambitious scope.
