In August 2023, CD Projekt Red officially announced the new expansion for The Witcher 3, titled Songs of the Past, at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show. Although the public has yet to try the content, the company is sharing its music ahead of the release.
Today, Milan Records launched The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past (OST Gamescom 2026 EP), a five-track EP featuring compositions by Magda Urbańska, Marcin Przybyłowicz, and Daniel Elms. This EP is available now and showcases music integral to the upcoming third expansion of the game.
According to Urbańska, “Creating music for Songs of the Past was incredibly exciting for me, but I also felt a huge sense of responsibility.” She reflects on the impact of the original game’s music, stating, “I vividly remember the first time I heard the music from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — it shook me to the core.” Urbańska adds that folk music provides unique creative opportunities that reflect their Slavic heritage and hopes that the essence of The Witcher is preserved in the new compositions.
The music is described in the press release as a blend of “evocative orchestral writing with traditional folk influences, powerful vocal performances, and regional instrumentation inspired by the world’s diverse cultures.” This distinct mixture is evident in the five tracks released today.
The track listing for the EP is as follows:
- Return to the Path – Magda Urbańska
- Awoken – Magda Urbańska
- Into Darkness – Daniel Elms
- What’s Done – Marcin Przybyłowicz
- Belleteyn Night – Magda Urbańska
During its reveal at Gamescom, additional details about Songs of the Past were shared, including its new playable location, Letten, and the introduction of a new romance. Notably, the expansion’s narrative has been in development for several years and materialized after a series of fortunate events.
