Seamless Co-Op Mod Now Available for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin
- The seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 2 is now in alpha release.
- Mod creator Yui has previously developed similar mods for other FromSoftware games.
- Known issues include enemy de-sync and certain interactions not being synchronized.
Yui, the mod creator recognized for developing seamless co-op modifications for Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, and Armored Core, has unveiled the alpha version of the seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. As the only installment in the trilogy that previously lacked this feature, the arrival of this mod is highly anticipated among fans.
While Dark Souls 2 includes a native co-op mode, it is often complicated, presenting a range of limitations that hinder players from enjoying uninterrupted gameplay with friends. Yui’s mod addresses these issues, allowing players to team up with up to five others throughout the entire game in a continuous session, effectively eliminating progression blockers and ensuring synchronization among all participants.
The alpha version of the mod is available for download on NexusMods and GitHub. Users should be aware that, as an alpha release, this version is expected to contain bugs as Yui works on testing and refining its functionality.
Potential problems noted in the mod include enemy synchronization issues during player deaths, especially in encounters with bosses like Velstadt and Sinh. Additionally, interactions such as opening or closing doors and picking up items may not always be consistent for all players.
For a comprehensive list of known issues, Yui’s Patreon provides further details, which can be beneficial for players prior to installation. Encouragingly, multiple patches have already been released, suggesting progress toward the mod’s final version may be forthcoming.
