CD Projekt Red Commits to Patching The Witcher 3 Remastered Edition

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • CD Projekt Red is focused on addressing performance and visual issues in The Witcher 3 Remastered.
  • Community concerns include bugs and brightness issues; CDPR has acknowledged some feedback.
  • The game’s Remastered edition introduces significant upgrades and prepares for an upcoming expansion.

CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has announced ongoing efforts to patch the Remastered edition of The Witcher 3, reassuring the community that development is continuing post-launch.

In a recent post on X, the company outlined specific areas still under review, including “further performance improvements, particularly on PS5,” “further visual adjustments,” and “voiceover audio fixes on consoles.” CDPR mentioned, “We’re aiming to address many of these in the next update” and invited players to continue sharing feedback through [this link].

CDPR is also collaborating with mod.io to enhance mod support across all platforms, following the introduction of cross-platform mod capabilities in the Remastered edition.

The ongoing patching initiatives come after the Remastered edition’s release last week, which faced various technical challenges reported by players. Community feedback indicated a preference for less brightness in the visuals, a concern that CDPR has addressed through multiple lighting-related hotfixes. However, the company did not comment further when approached for clarification.

Frustration among players remains evident, particularly regarding the focus on Twitch Drops and Ukrainian localization amid persistent game-breaking bugs. One popular comment on X highlighted this sentiment, stating, “Well I’m glad you’re focused on Twitch drops and Ukrainian localisation while there are game breaking bugs everywhere.”

Concerns have also been voiced about the removal of the next-gen version for PS5, with one player commenting, “Please bring back the next-gen version to PS5.” This rollback is available on PC but not on consoles, further amplifying player dissatisfaction.

The Remastered edition represents a significant overhaul of The Witcher 3, updating textures, environments, animations, and skills. Described as an effective 3.0 release, it arrives 11 years after the game’s original launch and at no additional cost to players, showcasing CDPR’s commitment to their audience. However, it also raises the minimum system requirements, which could impact older hardware adversely.

Furthermore, this modernization effort precedes the release of an unprecedented expansion for a single-player game, titled Songs of the Past, scheduled for next year. Thus far, the Remastered edition has successfully re-engaged players and boosted game sales.
