- Coinbase announced an adjusted net income of $719 million for Q3, a 66% increase from $433 million year-over-year.
- The company’s revenue reached $1.20 billion, slightly below analyst projections of $1.233 billion.
- Coinbase is expanding its offerings by integrating AI and tokenized assets while its prediction markets revenue grew significantly.
Coinbase Global reported a strong financial performance for the third quarter of 2026, achieving an adjusted net income of $719 million, representing a 66% increase from $433 million in the same period last year. This growth is primarily attributed to a resurgence in the cryptocurrency market.
The company’s earnings per share for the quarter stood at $2.51, although it remains unclear how this figure compares to the 6-cent-per-share profit anticipated by Wall Street analysts. Coinbase’s revenue was reported at $1.20 billion, which fell short of the $1.233 billion forecasted by analysts surveyed by LSEG.
The significant rise in Coinbase’s net income can be linked to the performance of its cryptocurrency investment portfolio, which is known for its volatility and can experience sharp fluctuations despite stable underlying asset compositions. The value of this portfolio increased as the digital asset market rebounded, with bitcoin prices rising 39% during the three-month period ending September 30, and recently trading at approximately $80,809.
Building Beyond Bitcoin
In the third quarter, Coinbase also focused on expanding its non-crypto product and service offerings, including the integration of artificial intelligence for traders, development of tokenized real-world assets, and expansion of prediction markets.
In July, Max Branzburg, VP of Product, stated that Coinbase plans to launch an “everything exchange” which will feature tokenized stocks, derivatives trading, prediction markets, and early-stage token sales. Notably, Coinbase introduced “Coinbase for Agents” in early October, allowing users to employ AI agents like ChatGPT and Muse for managing their portfolios and conducting trades.
The company’s prediction markets also saw business growth, with annual revenue exceeding $200 million and a 60% increase in the number of traders engaging with these markets compared to the previous quarter.
