During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, publisher Drawn & Quarterly announced major new additions to its upcoming manga lineup, confirming the acquisition of Shigeo Ito’s Marmalade Princess and Hinako Sugiura’s acclaimed manga Miss Hokusai—which will be released under the title Lady Hokusai. Fans can look forward to diving into these newly licensed titles when they arrive in spring 2027 and fall 2027, respectively.
Upcoming Releases and Historic Context for ‘Lady Hokusai’
Alongside the 2027 announcements, the publisher highlighted several previously scheduled titles, including Murasaki Yamada’s Sassy Cats (Shōwaru-Neko) on November 3, Hideshi Hino’s A Lullaby From Hell on November 10, and Yōko Kondō’s One Woman and the War slated for spring 2027. Sugiura’s Lady Hokusai (Sarusuberi) brings a rich historical pedigree to the slate, having previously inspired a celebrated 2015 anime film adaptation directed by Keiichi Hara and produced by Production I.G.
