Murder Investigation Launched After Death of French Influencer Sonia Bellina
Authorities in France have initiated a murder investigation following the discovery of Sonia Bellina’s body, a TikTok influencer known for her lip-sync videos, found “partially burned” in a vineyard in Saint-Gilles. The body was discovered on August 12, prompting investigators to open a homicide inquiry the same day and conduct an autopsy on August 13, the results of which are yet to be released.
A week later, on August 19, the Nîmes Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of two men in connection with the case. According to a press release from the office, the arrests were based on evidence suggesting the suspects’ direct or indirect involvement in the events surrounding Bellina’s death.
Subsequent information released by the Prosecutor’s Office on August 20 stated that one of the men has been released from custody due to insufficient evidence to establish his involvement in the incident. Meanwhile, the second suspect remains in custody, as an extension for his detention has been granted.
