Tyler Duckworth of MTV’s Challenge Series Passes Away at 44
Tyler Duckworth, a notable figure in the reality TV landscape who gained fame on Real World: Key West and secured victories on two seasons of MTV’s The Challenge, has died at the age of 44. His mother, Joni Duckworth, confirmed the news via Facebook on August 13, stating, “My son, Tyler, passed away earlier this week.” She mentioned that further details about services would be shared once arrangements are made with his father.
As of now, the cause of Tyler’s death remains unconfirmed. According to the Grand Forks Police Department, he was discovered in a bathroom at his North Dakota apartment. Preliminary investigations did not reveal any signs of foul play, and the death is not considered suspicious. Toxicology results are pending.
Tyler first appeared on television in 2006 during his season of Real World, where he formed a close bond with castmate Paula Meronek and generated notable conversations with fan favorite Johnny Bananas. In a memorable moment from The Challenge: Cutthroat in 2010, Tyler eliminated Johnny in what is known as the iconic backpack elimination, ultimately winning that season alongside Brad Fiorenza, Dunbar Merrill, and Tori Fiorenza.
His professional relationship with Johnny evolved to a new level, culminating in their victory in 2011 when they won the $100,000 prize on The Challenge: Rivals.
