“Why Traders Are Confident the September Jobs Report Will Shatter Expectations!”

Date:

Traders Anticipate Strong September Jobs Report Amid Labor Market Recovery

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Prediction market traders forecast a 60% chance of adding over 90,000 jobs in September.
  • August’s employment report showed a gain of 162,000 jobs, exceeding expectations.
  • The September jobs report is scheduled for release on Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Alan Nudelman (R) from Jiffy Lube engaged with job seekers at the Mega JobNewsUSA South Florida Job Fair on September 25, 2026, at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Traders participating in prediction markets are optimistic about the upcoming jobs report, with a strong expectation for more positive employment data. Following August’s report, which revealed the U.S. added 162,000 jobs—surpassing forecasts—traders on Kalshi estimate a 60% likelihood that over 90,000 jobs were created in September.

Additionally, speculators believe there is nearly a 50-50 chance that the September report will again demonstrate six-figure job growth, which is higher than the Dow Jones consensus economist forecast of 84,000 jobs.

In prediction contracts, traders speculate whether the U.S. added more than a specified number of jobs in any given month, with outcomes confirmed using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Similarly, traders on Polymarket share the perspective that there’s close to a 50-50 chance the jobs report for September will indicate six-figure growth.

Earlier in the summer, the labor market demonstrated signs of weakness; however, August’s jobs report indicated a recovery. This improvement has provided Federal Reserve policymakers additional justification to prioritize their inflation target, which remains above the desired benchmark, and to increase interest rates during their September meeting.

The September employment report is set for release on Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET. Prior to that, ADP’s national employment report will be published on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. ET.

Disclosure: CNBC and Kalshi maintain a commercial relationship involving customer acquisition and a minority investment.
