Blizzard Drops a Bombshell: Are New Classes on the Horizon for World of Warcraft: Forever?

Date:

World of Warcraft: Forever Players Surveyed on New Class Ideas

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Players reported receiving a survey about potential new classes for World of Warcraft: Forever.
  • Leaked details suggest a mix of classic and innovative class ideas like Tinker and San’layn.
  • Eurogamer has not verified the information, but early impressions of the game have been positive.

Players of World of Warcraft: Forever have reported that they received an opt-in survey from Blizzard, inquiring about their interest in various new classes for the forthcoming MMO. Some of the proposed classes included in the survey are generating considerable enthusiasm among the community.

In recent days, several users on Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher observed the survey, which Blizzard requested participants not to disclose. Despite this, information and screenshots have surfaced online, attracting attention from content creators, including notable World of Warcraft YouTuber Belluar.

Eurogamer has not confirmed the accuracy of these leaked survey details; however, they suggest intriguing class possibilities. According to users on the Classic WoW Reddit, the classes listed in the survey include:

  • Bard
  • Death Knight
  • Demon Hunter
  • Illusionist
  • Monk
  • Necromancer
  • Metalborn/Runemaster/Runeknight
  • San’layn
  • Tinker
  • Warden
  • Witch

The classes mentioned can be categorized into entirely new concepts or variations of established classes seen in modern World of Warcraft, like Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Monks. However, these would likely exhibit significantly different playstyles due to the distinctions between modern WoW and WoW: Forever.

For instance, leaked information about the Demon Hunter suggests this version would be considerably slower and less agile compared to its counterpart from World of Warcraft: Legion. Additionally, these Demon Hunters would not belong to Illidan’s well-known faction but would instead originate from a smaller pre-existing group elsewhere in Azeroth.

The survey also includes innovative class concepts like the Tinker, rooted in the Warcraft RTS series of the past. According to the information that has circulated, the Tinker would operate a mech suit tailored to the player’s preferred playstyle, offering options to tank damage, deal significant damage, or support allies. This class would feature two forms: the mech suit and the pilot, similar to D.Va from Overwatch. Another noteworthy class, the San’layn, is described as vampiric knights in full armor, skilled in melee combat and capable of draining the life force from their opponents.

It remains uncertain whether Blizzard will incorporate any of these classes into the game upon release. If implemented, this would represent a significant expansion of the Classic World of Warcraft universe, avoiding the paths taken by earlier expansions such as The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King. For those who have yet to experience the beta for World of Warcraft: Forever, early impressions from Eurogamer highlight a positive reception during the initial 1-20 leveling experience.
