Grand Theft Auto 6 has reportedly added a new dimension of gameplay involving “frequent and prominent” drug use, as detailed in a recently published and swiftly deleted PEGI 18+ age rating. This feature allows players to use illegal drugs “at any time,” marking a significant addition to the franchise’s notorious activities that already include violent car-jackings and murder.
The rating was briefly available on the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) website, where insight into the game’s content was shared widely before the information was removed. Players can reportedly engage in drug use with others and utilize substances directly from their inventory, with cocaine being notably accessible—able to be carried and snorted directly from the player’s hand.
While prior entries in the Grand Theft Auto series have involved themes of drug trade, protagonists typically refrained from actual use of the illegal goods. For example, while GTA 5 and GTA Online featured optional bongs, they were primarily restricted to player-owned residences rather than being part of open-world interaction.
Additionally, the PEGI rating indicates that GTA 6 may also include the first direct depictions of sex scenes within the series. Details state that players will encounter “strong sexual themes,” including nudity, intercourse, and scenes involving sexual fetishes. In nightlife venues, players can pay for private dances, with interactive elements allowing players to place their hands on dancers.
As expected, the game includes a significant level of violence, with the PEGI description asserting that players can “harm all other characters inhabiting the environment” realistically. Certain weapons are expected to inflict graphic damage, including features like detailed decapitation and dismemberment.
