Kojima Updates on Xbox Collaborations: OD and Physint at Tokyo Game Show 2026

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Hideo Kojima announced updates on two in-development games, OD and Physint, during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast.
  • OD is described as a unique horror game, while Physint will feature Bill Skarsgård in the lead role amid a star-studded cast.
  • Kojima anticipates a lengthy development period, with Physint not expected for release for another “five or six” years.

Hideo Kojima took the stage during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast to provide an update on two of his upcoming titles, OD and Physint, both of which are now being published by Xbox. This change follows Sony’s decision to “step away” from Physint, which was initially slated as a PlayStation-exclusive title. Reports indicate that Sony’s move was influenced by concerns regarding budget, profitability, and exclusivity.

In his presentation, Kojima emphasized the partnership with Xbox, remarking, “Today, I’d like to focus on [Kojima Productions’] partnership with Xbox and share with players around the world a glimpse of what’s ahead.” He also shared that he visited Redmond, Washington, earlier this year for discussions with Xbox head Asha Sharma about the future of gaming and digital entertainment.

Kojima’s remarks began with a focus on OD-Knock, a horror game that promises to be unlike anything audiences have seen before. He admitted that development is moving along smoothly, despite interruptions caused by last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike. “Production is proceeding on schedule,” he stated, highlighting the impressive performances delivered by actors Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer. He reiterated that OD will “test the thresholds of fear” and indicated that further details will be shared later.

Turning to Physint, Kojima revealed that Bill Skarsgård, known for his role as Pennywise, will lead the cast, joining other confirmed actors like Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. He also presented new key artwork showcasing the characters and their costumes, reportedly captured during a photoshoot he conducted. Although the game remains years from completion, Kojima assured fans that more information would be available soon.

During a recent livestream celebrating Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary, he hinted at the potential for franchise development regarding Physint, stating it is “just the start.” However, he also mentioned that the game won’t be released for another “five or six” years, suggesting it may become a significant title for the upcoming Xbox Project Helix.
