Leaked Details Revealed for Xbox Elite Series 3 Controller
- Xbox Elite Series 3 controller leaks reveal advanced features including Hall Effect and TMR sticks.
- The controller will include options for “advanced haptics” and a dedicated audio scroll wheel.
- Two main versions, Base and Complete, are expected, making a total of four product configurations.
The unannounced yet consistently leaked Xbox Elite Series 3 controller has surfaced again with new details sourced from Xbox’s Design Lab website, which enables customers to design custom controllers. Information regarding its analogue stick technology, rumble motors, and additional features has emerged.
The datamined details, circulated on Reddit, confirm the inclusion of Hall Effect and Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) sticks in the controller. These advanced stick technologies utilize magnets instead of physical connections, thereby addressing issues like wear and stick drift. Customers appear to have the option to choose between these two stick types, although it remains unclear which option will be the default.
Additionally, the leaks reference “advanced haptics,” suggesting the controller will integrate features similar to the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. The return of impulse triggers with their own haptics and multi-stage presses is also noted.
Other features mentioned include a dedicated “audio scroll wheel” and customizable faceplates, as well as various d-pad choices. Based on the leaked information, Xbox is likely to offer two main versions of the Elite Series 3 controller, labeled Base and Complete, with both versions featuring optional haptics motors, resulting in a total of four product variations.
As the premium line of controllers aimed at core gamers and competitive players, the Elite Series 2 Core was the last iteration to launch in 2022, priced at £115 / $130, following the more expensive Elite Series 2 model released three years earlier for £160 / $180. Given the leakage’s detailed nature, an official announcement and potential release date may be imminent.
In the backdrop of these developments, Xbox is undergoing significant changes under the leadership of Asha Sharma. Recent restructuring efforts included a wave of layoffs in late September, impacting 268 employees, the transfer of the Halo franchise to Activision, and the reported closure of British studio Ninja Theory.
