- Mojang announces The Sift, a new dimension for Minecraft, launching in 2027.
- The dimension will first debut in Minecraft Dungeons 2 on 29th September 2026.
- Plans for a Minecraft attraction in London at Chessington World of Adventures Resort were also revealed.
Mojang has officially announced The Sift, an upcoming Minecraft dimension that will join the existing realms of the Overworld, the Nether, and The End, scheduled to launch on both Java and Bedrock editions in 2027. This will be the first new dimension added to the game since The End’s release in 2011.
The Sift will first emerge in Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is set to be released on 29th September 2026, before being integrated into the main Minecraft game the following year.
The Sift was announced during Minecraft Live on 26th September, coinciding with the broader reveal of Dungeons 2. While details remain scarce as Mojang has not disclosed extensive information about the new dimension, it has been characterized as a fresh environment introducing new biomes, mobs, and gameplay approaches. A specific release date for The Sift remains unconfirmed.
The team highlighted, “Minecraft Live revealed that the newest Minecraft dimension isn’t just finding its home in Dungeons 2; it’ll also be coming to Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition next year.” They added that this marks the first new dimension in over 14 years, joining the Overworld, the Nether, and The End. Viewers were given a sneak peek of the dimension and one of its native mobs during the broadcast, with an assurance that players can explore it firsthand in Minecraft Dungeons 2 during its launch.
In addition to The Sift, Minecraft World is set to open in London at the Chessington World of Adventures Resort in 2027. This new attraction aims to cater to diverse play styles, offering activities for explorers and builders alike. It will feature the world’s first Minecraft World Hotel, where guests can dine in a deep-sea-themed eatery, rest in uniquely designed rooms, and interact with various mobs. Excitingly, a Minecraft-themed rollercoaster, touted as “terrifying and thrilling,” will also be included in the experience.
Notably, recent statistics indicate that over 300,000 players discover Minecraft for the first time each day. According to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, despite being on the market for 17 years and having sold 425 million copies, “Minecraft is still finding new players.”
