Riot Games has launched a final gameplay trailer for its fighting game, 2XKO, which is scheduled to be sunsetted later this year. The trailer features a surprise reveal of Sett, a character long requested by fans, alongside Samira, who will become the game’s 16th character in the upcoming update.
This last major update is set to go live on October 27, showcasing Samira’s move set while also highlighting Sett, a brawler known for his combination of impactful strikes and powerful grabs. Notably, Sett’s abilities in 2XKO differ from those in League of Legends, featuring a powered-up state that enhances various special moves, adding unique properties. One of his supers allows him to grab two opponents simultaneously, slamming them together, reflecting his MOBA roots.
The trailer has elicited mixed reactions, blending excitement with a sense of loss. The top comment on YouTube, from user il3967, reads: “This is like watching a kid get visited by Spider-man at the hospital.”
2XKO was developed over an extended period and launched earlier this year to enthusiasm from the fighting game community. However, shortly after its release, the development team faced layoffs, leading to the announcement of the game’s end-of-service due to insufficient player retention to warrant ongoing support beyond its first character season.
Despite its upcoming sunset, 2XKO will remain playable for the foreseeable future. The microtransaction store has been removed and replaced with a one-time purchase option that unlocks various in-game cosmetics, excluding only a Chipotle promotional avatar outfit. Fans eager to explore Sett’s abilities can look forward to doing so later this month.
