Players of Rebel Wolves’ newly-released title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, demonstrate a strong affinity for another well-known medieval fantasy RPG, The Witcher 3. According to data from industry analysts at Alinea Analytics, nearly 58% of Dawnwalker players have experience with The Witcher 3. This is fitting, as Rebel Wolves consists of many former developers from CD Projekt Red, the studio behind The Witcher series.
In the same report, analyst Rhys Elliott noted that Poland is the game’s second-largest market on Steam, contributing 11% of the player base, while the United States leads with a substantial 34%. This highlights the engagement from local players, given that both Rebel Wolves and CD Projekt Red are Polish studios.
The crossover of The Blood of Dawnwalker’s audience extends to other recent titles in similar genres. The report indicates that 13% of players have also played Mortal Shell 2, and 9% have engaged with Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker achieved over one million sales within its first three days on the market. Of these, Alinea estimates approximately 410,000 sales occurred on Steam, with additional success on GOG, a DRM-free game platform. The game’s growing PC audience is also fostering a modding community, although the most popular modification currently available eliminates the primary time mechanic of the game.
In a review from Eurogamer, Bertie expressed satisfaction with how The Blood of Dawnwalker utilized its time mechanic to establish meaningful stakes, despite some aspects of the game’s brilliance not always being effectively conveyed elsewhere.
