CD Projekt Red Releases Patch Addressing Lighting Issues in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered
- A new patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered addresses lighting and performance issues.
- Improvements include adjustments to interiors and fixing DLSS availability on PC.
- The game is set to receive a third expansion, Songs of the Past, slated for release next year.
Following the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered earlier this week, CD Projekt Red has released a patch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC Xbox Play Anywhere version, which implements “various lighting adjustments” among other improvements.
CD Projekt Red confirmed the patch’s release via social media, detailing several key changes:
- Resolution of an issue where DLSS was unavailable for the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC.
- Various lighting adjustments, particularly enhancing some interiors that were rendered too dark.
- Additional adjustments to ensure consistency with the PC version.
Discussions surrounding the game’s apparent increase in brightness have intensified, with the Bloom setting identified as a potential contributor. While this setting can be disabled on PC, it is not an option for console users, which the update may address. Additional graphical enhancements, including path tracing and HDR, have further highlighted these brightness concerns.
CD Projekt Red is also preparing a hotfix for the PC version to resolve a save-game issue and is actively monitoring reports submitted through their Technical Support portal. The company has expressed gratitude to players for their patience and feedback regarding the game’s issues.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered brings a comprehensive visual overhaul, animation enhancements, and significant gameplay improvements. Notably, it remains free for all existing owners of the game. This refresh is part of the lead-up to a forthcoming third expansion, titled Songs of the Past, expected to be released next year.
