FC Porto Interested in Santiago Gimenez as Rafael Leão’s Future at AC Milan Remains Uncertain
FC Porto is expressing interest in AC Milan’s Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez, sources indicate. The Portuguese champions have yet to submit a formal bid for the 25-year-old, who could be available for either a loan or permanent transfer. Gimenez, who joined AC Milan in February 2025 from Feyenoord, experienced challenges last season due to injury.
Meanwhile, Rafael Leão’s situation at AC Milan remains up in the air. The Portuguese forward missed a recent match against Manchester United because of injury and is expected to face heightened competition for playing time following the signing of Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos. Despite earlier discussions about a potential departure from Milan, the club has not received any solid bids for Leão, who has been linked to Galatasaray and has expressed interest in one day playing in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim commented on Leão’s prospects of securing a starting spot at Milan after their recent victory over Manchester United, indicating that he will need to contend for his place in the lineup.
In a related development, AC Milan is preparing to announce the signing of Belgian international Diego Moreira from Strasbourg for a fee around €50 million. Moreira is currently in Milan undergoing a medical examination, with the official confirmation of the transfer anticipated on Wednesday. Previously, Moreira joined Chelsea in 2023 and was loaned to Lyon for the 2023-24 season. Strasbourg acquired him in August 2024 as part of the BlueCo organization, which also includes Chelsea.
