D’Arcy Carden Reflects on The Five-Star Weekend and Shares Her Favorite Books

During a recent gathering at The Blond in 11 Howard, D’Arcy Carden, star of Peacock’s hit series The Five-Star Weekend, shared insights into her reading habits and favorite books, highlighting the significance of audiobooks in her life. Carden revealed that actress Judy Greer helped change her perspective on enjoying literature, stating, “She really gave me permission, and I swear to God, I haven’t stopped listening since then.”

The Five-Star Weekend, which also features Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, and Gemma Chan, has quickly become Peacock’s top scripted series, achieving more than 1 billion minutes of streaming in its first week and securing a second season renewal. In preparing for her role, Carden found herself juggling scripts and the book on which the series is based, which led to some confusion. “I was getting scripts and I was reading the book at the same time, which was very confusing,” she confessed.

Among her favorite books, Carden selected The Sane One, a memoir by Anna Konkle, which she praised for its audiobook performance, saying, “There are awards for audiobooks, and she should win. It’s the performance of a lifetime.” Other notable mentions include Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, and Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano, both of which resonated deeply with her experience as a reader.
