Japan TV Ratings: Sazae-san Dominates While GTO Live-Action and Look Back Make Their Debut
The latest television household ratings for Japan’s Kanto region reveal that the timeless classic Sazae-san secured the top spot with a robust 7.5% rating on Fuji TV, closely followed by Detective Conan pulling in a strong 5.4% on NTV. Meanwhile, major live-action and anime premieres hit the airwaves, led by the debut of the new live-action series adaptation of Tohru Fujisawa’s GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka manga, which launched on Fuji TV with a solid 6.4% rating.
Anime Films and Seasonal Hits Pull Steady Viewership Across Networks
Special anime broadcasts and seasonal favorites also captured audiences across various networks. Kiyotaka Oshiyama and Studio Durian’s theatrical adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed Look Back manga made its NHK Educational debut with a 0.4% rating, while the anime film Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Chō Karei! Shakunetsu no Kasukabe Dancers pulled a 1.7% rating on TV Asahi. Regular weekly favorites continued to perform well, with That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 earning 2.9% on NTV, The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch scoring 2.7% on TBS, and The Elusive Samurai season 2 pulling 2.2% on Fuji TV.
