Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Anime Casts Kujira as Empress Boraqchin in Third PV
The upcoming television anime adaptation of Tomato Soup’s acclaimed Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia (Tenmaku no Jādūgar) manga has dropped its third promotional video, revealing that veteran voice actor Kujira will star as Boraqchin, the first wife and Empress of Ögedei. Directed by Abel Góngora at Science SARU with chief direction by Naoko Yamada, the historical drama series premiered with a special one-hour, two-episode debut on July 4 across TV Asahi and its affiliates, with Crunchyroll currently streaming both the subtitled version and its English dub.
Inside the 13th-Century Mongol Court and Imperial Politics
Based on Yen Press’s English release of the award-winning manga—which recently won the grand prize in the Comic division of the 55th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards—the story transports viewers to 13th-century Yeke Mongol Ulus. It follows Fatima, a brilliant Persian woman whose advanced medical and scientific knowledge lands her in the Mongol palace under the protection of Töregene, Ögedei Khan’s sixth wife. With stellar creative contributions including character designs by Kenichi Yoshida, series scripts by Kanichi Katō, and theme songs performed by SEKAI NO OWARI and Queen Bee, the series continues to captivate global audiences following its U.S. premiere at Anime Expo.
