Japan’s television ratings for the Kanto region are in, highlighting the latest viewership figures for major anime and live-action adaptations. Fuji TV’s evergreen staple Sazae-san captured the highest spot on the charts with an impressive 7.5% household rating on Sunday, July 26. Close behind, Detective Conan secured second place on NTV with a 5.4% rating on Saturday, July 25, while Chibi Maruko-chan rounded out the top tier on Fuji TV with 4.6%.
Premiere Updates: GTO Live-Action and Look Back Make Their Debut
The week also saw notable entries from live-action and theatrical adaptations hitting television screens. The premiere episode of the new live-action series based on Tohru Fujisawa’s iconic GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka manga pulled in a solid 6.4% rating after airing on Fuji TV on Monday, July 20. Meanwhile, specialty broadcasts included Kiyotaka Oshiyama and Studio Durian’s anime film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed Look Back manga, which scored a 0.4% rating on NHK Educational, alongside seasonal favorites like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 and The Elusive Samurai season 2 keeping steady viewership.
