- The game features protagonists Drew, Blake, and Charlie as they navigate a long-form mystery inspired by classics like The Goonies.
- Stage Fright supports online and couch co-op gameplay with a focus on communication and accessibility.
Ghost Town Games has unveiled the first gameplay footage for its upcoming cooperative adventure game, Stage Fright, nearly two years after its initial tease in December 2024. The game has been in development for approximately five years and follows three protagonists—Drew, Blake, and Charlie—on their quest to uncover an ancient mystery.
Stage Fright draws inspiration from games such as Luigi’s Mansion and familiar coming-of-age narratives like The Goonies and Stranger Things. The gameplay emphasizes communication-driven collaboration, allowing players to engage online or via couch co-op to overcome escape room-style challenges and chaotic scenarios. Ghost Town Games notes, “The challenge is in the mind, not the finger-tips!”
In their introduction to the latest gameplay, the developers expressed a desire to “fan the flame for an under-served couch co-op community” while retaining the one-button accessibility that characterized Overcooked. They aim to take players beyond the confines of the kitchen into a broader adventure.
Unlike the fast-paced urgency typically found in timed levels, Stage Fright offers a long-form mystery for players to explore together, tackling various puzzles and bizarre obstacles in a uniquely strange town filled with eccentric characters. The game enables players to switch between different pairs, allowing the narrative to unfold from multiple viewpoints.
While Ghost Town Games has yet to confirm the specific platforms for Stage Fright, it will be available on Switch 1, Switch 2, and Steam. The game is set for release in Spring 2025 and is being published by Hello Games, known for their work on No Man’s Sky.
