Square Enix has announced that the next expansion for Final Fantasy 14, titled Evercold, is set to launch on 23rd February 2027. Among the expansion’s features is a new job called Zephyr, which serves as a physical ranged DPS leveraging a crossbow and an avian companion named Nephele.

The revelation of Zephyr was made by Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida during the opening keynote of the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2026, held in Tokyo. Zephyr joins Bastion, the first new job announced for Evercold at the Fan Festival in Berlin earlier this year, which is characterized by its greatshield-wielding tank role.

Pre-orders for Evercold and the previously revealed Collector’s Box will open on Wednesday, 4th November 2026, at 9 AM GMT. Players who pre-order will receive early access, along with a Wind-Up Köttr minion and Halone’s Earring, which enhances experience points gained from defeating enemies by 30%. These in-game items will be available immediately upon pre-ordering, allowing players to utilize the earring for leveling jobs ahead of the expansion’s release.

The Collector’s Box will consist of physical items only and will not include the game, in-game items, or pre-order bonuses. The box features an art representation of Evercold by renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano, a figure of the Warrior of Light as a reaper, an Ethos metal keychain, a Köttr mini plush, and a Tapestry of the Fourth.

Additionally, the Square Enix Store will offer a limited Collector’s Bundle that includes the box along with a code for the Digital Collector’s Edition available on Windows or Mac. Owners of PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and Steam can purchase the box individually and pre-order the Digital Collector’s Edition separately, which includes bonuses such as a Valhallar Odin mount, an Entreat Crystal emote, and a Crystal Skyltborg weapon for Bastion.

During the keynote, Square Enix introduced a new raid difficulty level called Fierce, which falls between Normal and Savage. A new trailer was also unveiled for the Evangelion: Ghosts of Desire alliance raid crossover, which will feature more challenging eight-player boss encounters. Additionally, new artwork by Tetsuya Nomura was showcased for Beyond the Lifestream, a crossover raid series with Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Future updates will incorporate features like Evolved Combat Mode to highlight job uniqueness, a new Seasons system for item reward mechanics, and expanded character creation options with new Character Action Skins. Enhanced housing features, PvP updates, and a revamped companion chocobo system are expected to be introduced in patch 8.1.

To date, Final Fantasy 14 has surpassed 35 million registered accounts.

For those interested, the full keynote can be viewed on Twitch, with more information available on the official Evercold site.

Final Fantasy 14 is now also accessible on Switch 2, following its announcement at the end of June.
