Howie Mandel Embraces New Format in America’s Got Talent Season 21
Howie Mandel shared his excitement about the changes in the new season of America’s Got Talent during a recent interview with E! News, following the second night of Judges’ Callbacks. He expressed that the revamped format is a refreshing departure from the traditional middle rounds, providing a unique twist to the competition.
“I was excited because it’s not just the traditional middle rounds,” Mandel said. He emphasized the judges’ passion for identifying contestants who are deserving of a spot in the live shows, which are set to begin on August 18.
Mandel praised a recently introduced audition round that allows hopefuls one last opportunity to impress the judges. He recounted Simon Cowell’s directive: “If you’re really passionate about certain people, pick four or five people, take them with you, give them some input if you really believe you can move them on to the live shows.” This adjustment empowers judges to play a more active role in the selection process.
Already, Mandel has seen positive reactions after personally selecting five acts to showcase their talent during the Callbacks. His involvement signals a more hands-on approach as the competition progresses, heightening the stakes for the contestants.
