Stop Sunburns from Peeling? Discover the Surprising Secret Everyone’s Talking About!

Dr. King Advises Against Picking Sunburned Skin to Minimize Peeling

Dr. King warns that while completely preventing sunburn peeling is not possible, individuals can take steps to reduce discomfort and dryness. The urge to pick at the skin can be strong, but it is essential to resist this temptation.

To promote skin healing, Dr. King recommends applying a moisturizer to slightly damp skin after a cooling shower. She emphasizes that UV exposure can weaken the skin barrier, leading to dehydration, dryness, sensitivity, and inflammation. Moisturizing is a crucial part of the recovery process.

Dr. King advises consumers to seek out gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers that contain beneficial ingredients such as ceramides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, squalane, colloidal oatmeal, and soothing botanicals.

The most critical action to avoid during the recovery process is exfoliation. Dr. King highlights the significance of refraining from using “exfoliating acids, retinoids, scrubs, brushes, and other potentially irritating products” until the skin has healed completely.
