- Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will have a full reveal in 2027.
- Neil Druckmann emphasizes the studio’s commitment to meaningful storytelling.
Naughty Dog fans have received exciting news from the PlayStation studio. In a letter marking The Last of Us Day 2026, studio head Neil Druckmann confirmed that two new projects set in The Last of Us universe are currently in the “very early stages” of development.
Druckmann stated, “Since [The Last of Us Part 2 documentary] Grounded 2, we’ve talked about the possibility of telling more stories in the world of The Last of Us. We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages—so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond [The Last of Us Part 1] and [The Last of Us Part 2].” He did not specify whether these projects will be games, films, or other forms of media.
“The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling,” Druckmann added. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Additionally, Naughty Dog offered insights into the status of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a game showcased in 2024 that is said to showcase a different side of the studio. Druckmann noted, “There’s an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we’re stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory. But… we need to cook for just a little bit longer. So we want to set expectations: we’re going to be quiet for the rest of this year. In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.” He acknowledged the long wait for updates and expressed gratitude for the continued support from fans.
New artwork released shows the protagonist, Jordan, with her trademark sword, gazing into an expansive wooded area affected by a mysterious red alien matter, providing a glimpse of what fans can expect from this upcoming project.
