Naughty Dog’s Secret Project: A New Uncharted Adventure is on the Horizon—What Could It Be?

Naughty Dog Commences Development on New Uncharted Game

Naughty Dog is reportedly in the early stages of developing a new game in the Uncharted series. According to a report from MP1st, the upcoming title will include series protagonist Nathan Drake in some capacity, though he may not serve as the main character.

The next installment in the Uncharted franchise is expected to be an original entry rather than a remake of any existing titles. This new project will reportedly be directed by Shaun Escayag, a long-time Naughty Dog employee who previously directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Insider NateTheHate has also confirmed on Resetera that Escayag is indeed dedicated to this new Uncharted game.

Previously, Escayag had taken a position as the creative director for Marvel’s Avengers at Crystal Dynamics before returning to Naughty Dog to work on this unnamed project, which is now identified as the new Uncharted game.

The following paragraph includes spoilers for Uncharted 4’s ending.

If the new title continues from the narrative established in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, a potential plot direction could feature Cassie, the daughter of Drake and Elena Fisher, who is introduced at the conclusion of Uncharted 4, taking on a leading role in this new adventure.

End of Uncharted 4 spoilers.

Naughty Dog plans to focus on this new Uncharted installment following the completion of its current primary project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This game does not currently have a designated release date but is expected to be officially revealed in 2027, suggesting a possible release in that year. Given this timeline, the new Uncharted game may not be available for some time.

The last major release in the Uncharted series was the standalone title The Lost Legacy, which launched in 2017, alongside a re-release in 2022.
