On the second day of Nintendo’s Direct September showcases, the focus shifted towards games set to arrive on the Switch this winter. The event commenced at 3 PM UK time and unveiled several significant announcements.
Among the highly anticipated reveals was Monster Hunter Wilds, which is slated to launch in early December and will include local multiplayer functionality. This addition recalls the impact Monster Hunter had on previous platforms, particularly with gamers enjoying cooperative play.
Also featured was Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, launching on the Switch 2 today, alongside a new installment in the Professor Layton series. Titled Professor Layton and the New World of Steel, it is set for release on December 10, 2026, and will feature a rich collection of puzzles.
In a notable absence, FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods failed to receive a release date during the showcase, leading to speculation that the title may be postponed to 2027. This uncertainty follows concerns raised during the recent network test for the game.
The showcase also teased a new Switch 2 version of the game Meccha Chameleons, which focuses on stealthy gameplay mechanics and is expected to be available later today. The Nintendo Direct concluded with the announcement of a new 3D open-world Kirby game, titled Kirby and the World Beyond, set for Spring 2027, which promises a vibrant and expansive gameplay experience.
